World War III. Update.
USA, Iran, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, China ...
Ukraine continues to recover ground from the occupied areas. Ukrainian counter attacks in Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Donbas were all successful in February. This was the first month in two years in which Ukraine recovered more ground than Russia took and although this in itself is insignificant to some, it should be regarded and a significant indication of what is coming.
Russia’s failed communications after the loss of Starlink is a genuine game changer. I don’t use that expression lightly.
Russian forces are unable to respond quickly to Ukrainian movement and change of emphasis. Defences and reserves cannot be adjusted quickly. This is creating gaps in Russian defence along the whole border. Across the whole battle front, speed in communications is vital. Fast intelligence provides real time information and a strategic advantage.
Although Ukrainian advances are relatively small this is because Ukraine’s generals are imposing limits of exploitation and are currently unwilling to overextend operations. However, as success builds and confidence grows this will change.
Hungarian and Slovakian Prime Ministers, Victor Orban and Robert Fiko continue to whine about shortages of gas created by their insistence on continued dependence on Russian supplies that run through Ukraine. Both leaders have been instrumental in preventing and slowing financial support from the EU to Ukraine. It’s hard to hear these pathetic complaints without a reference to ‘reaping what you sow.’ They backed the wrong side and continue to do so.
Russia is providing support to its closest ally Iran by providing air defence systems. This in turn depletes Russia’s failing and stretched front line systems. Although Russia now produces its own Shahed drones they can no longer rely on supporting supplies from Iran. China is reported to be sending rocket fuels to Iran.
The USA, Russia and China now have a finger in Trump and Netanyahu’s illegal war against Iran. Trump’s ill-thought-out attack is a truly global event, but the same could be said about Ukraine. The main difference being oil and gas from the middle east is important to the whole world whereas oil and gas from Russia was mostly important to Europe.
Reports of Iranian Hypersonic Fattah missiles penetrating Israeli Iron dome defences and also of striking a US destroyer are forcing US admirals to ask questions of their ability to defend their carriers. Damage to one carrier would be enough to seriously undermine any strategy that might exist. By persuading Trump to help him defeat Iran, Netanyahu might have created his own demise.
As the USA suddenly finds itself in difficulty from mac 15 Fattah hypersonic missiles and shahed drones, they have requested help from Ukraine to defend its facilities held on territory in the Arabian Gulf States.
Ukraine now leads the world in anti-missile and drone technology. Let us hope they are making the USA pay for that assistance in some way in return for Trump’s instance Ukraine pay for US military support. Guarantees should be avoided. A pay first system should be insisted on with any Trump administration promises.
US strategy seems to be founded on the Star Trek and the Borg ‘Resistance is futile.’ This is just as false in the real world as it is in fiction.
During the first Gulf War months of planning and preparation was required to prepare US and allied forces to defeat Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein’s forces from Kuwait. Troops and enormous levels of logistical support were moved into Saudi Arabia and then launched with what GW Bush described as ‘Shock and Awe.’ There is some shock to Trump and Netanyahu’s actions but absolutely no awe. The execution of the Ayatollah was a precise tactical strike with no strategic effect. Billions of dollars to kill the leader of Iran who has already been replaced with his son. The Shia world of 300 million people is appalled and many anti IRGI moderates are now firmly back in the Iran first camp.
Trump’s recent outbursts show diminishing confidence US operations will come to a successful conclusion.
Trump insisted he had ‘unlimited ammunition supplies.
Demanded unconditional surrender.
Said, ‘Iran has surrendered!’
Today the Trump administration refuses to rule out restoring the draft and conscripting a new US army. That project alone would take a couple of years.
Iran will resist. The USA has no chance of mobilising enough forces to control the country. Trump will escalate with increased bombing and might even resort to carpet bombing cities. Left unchecked he wouldn’t hesitate to inflict a genocide on Iran. He and Netanyahu hold nuclear triggers. Such an act is no longer out of the equation.
Iran will resort to what is now termed ‘hybrid warfare.’ The prime target is likely to be the FIFA Football World Cup!

Noted: “any strategy that might exist” is carrying a lot of weight here.
I would ask, is there a strategy? What are the goals? What does victory look like?
What is the exit plan?
In my opinion, this is mostly a smoke screen for Trump to avoid other truths.
Nice work Robin, keep it up 👌🏻
