‘This was tactical questioning by normal infantry intelligence units. There was no subtleness about their methods, and they were easy to resist. If we looked too cold lying on the ground, the guards would run us around with our hands over our heads and make us do press-ups. It didn't make much difference to me: I shivered endlessly and waited for the day to draw to a close. I estimated the time at about 1500 hours. Only one day to go and I would be in the SAS.
