I'm still writing and fighting!
A little help from my friends.
Nearly five years ago I grew so frustrated with corporate media I started to blog my own views. The leading stories at the time were Boris Johnson’s tea party, and Djokovic getting deported from Australia. 100,000 Russians were massed on the borders of Ukraine and no one seemed to think they would invade. I did, and I started to write about it. Initially no one listened.
I have continued to do that for four years. I get cyber attacked weekly and trolled daily. I’m hitting my targets hard. Recently I have been shadow blocked on social media for the third time. If you follow me on Linkedin or Facebook you might be surprised to know I write and post every day. The system doesn’t remove or block my work it reduces my coverage. Many followers get excluded from my posts. I highlight falshoods or lies and I confront the bullshit. I began as a small voice in the dark, but now thousands are joining the chorus.
During the past 18 months I have posted 628 articles 540 of which were free for all subscribers and the remainder for paid subscribers only. An average of 50% of those subscribers read every post. My pet subjects are Ukraine, Putin, Trump, and veterans’ affairs, but they are interspersed with short stories, poetry, and other current affairs in other important parts of the world like Gaza, Venezuela and Sudan and most recently the USA/Israel attacks on Iran. My best recent piece from my own perspective was not political it’s titled A shrine in the valleys.
I’ve worked in many countries and lived with many peoples, they aren’t too different from us. It is power brokers and corrupt individuals with power who should be exposed. This was once the job of the free press but sadly we are all searching for integrity elsewhere in our brave new world.
I’m honoured you read my work and take time to disagree with my views or correct my errors. If everyone agreed there would be no point in writing and posting and my audience would be very limited. I welcome polite challenges and questions, and I hope you all continue to engage with my work and support me. There is moreto come.
It is no longer possible for me to climb mountains, so I write.
The process of writing is cathartic, and it forces me to examine my own feelings opinions. When I write I hope to make other people think and examine their opinions too. Many of us repeat what others say without investigating the veracity of what they are telling us. When someone starts a sentence with ‘I heard’ it should be a warning. We must think for ourselves, we must question authority! I research every post and search for at least two corroborating sources before believing what I hear and read. We must all do that.
My body is telling me to slow down but there is still so much more to do. I will continue writing and fighting. I will say it as I see it. I will speak out and challenge abuse of power and praise good acts, whoever makes them. Oh yes, I have TDS, I am biased, very, very biased. There is nothing even handed about my views on cruelty. I will confront anyone who inflicts pain and suffering on humanity and I will call them out. I get attacked by troll farms from Tennessee to Moscow.
I’m proud to be considered important enough for these unknown entities to hit. I’m certainly not a victim. ‘I write to fight’ so I expect a battle. I’m out there for those who cannot articulate their frustrations and who need someone to put their feelings into words..
Today is my self-promotion day. I usually stick to saying ‘Please be a paid subscriber’ at the end of my Substack articles. I’m asking the thousands who are free subscribers to upgrade and support my efforts. If you one of the small number of paid subscribers who already do, I’m sincerely grateful.
The monthly fee is £7.00 which is £00.23 per day. I write almost every day, it’s a good deal. There are other options such as free trials and one-off optional payments.
When I was young, I served my country. I’m still serving, but now my fingers must talk the talk and walk the walk on my keyboard. It helps to keep me going.
If you can help without detriment to yourself, I would appreciate it.
Whatever you choose to do, keep reading and sharing. Knowledge dispels fear.
I write to fight.

Keep writing Robin!
Don’t let anyone say you’re just a keyboard warrior. You’ve earned your medals (both military and civilian) and have kept us safe in times of adversity.
Your deeds in 1980 sent a message round the world -
“ Don’t mess with the UK”
That message is alive and kicking today, in the way we (British people) treat others with respect. We punch above our weight, and defend others from bullies where we can.
Long may it be so.
Hello Robin
I often read what you say and I thank you for your service. I fear there are few who would bother fighting for the UK nowadays, certainly not my grandsons. I wonder if you watch the frequent YouTube videos made by Tim Davies, a 52 year old fighter-pilot who fell out with the RAF hierarchy and resigned after more than 20 years of service. I'm in agreement with just about everything he says! Perhaps that's because he was indoctrinated by the Royal Navy, just as I was!
