I continue to write and fight.
Promotion day.
If you have time in the next few days, go back four years and read what leading journalists wrote about and then compare it with what they said a month later, a year later and today. In the corporate media world, principles are irrelevant, the aim of writing is to get something out first and encourage people to click. ‘Breaking news!’ ‘Shock, horror’ all lead us to eventually forget the historical narrative and replace it with rarely accurate rubbish. Media owners don’t care, and we don’t matter. Only cash matters, which is the reason why we have watched as our world descends into a swamp of ignorance, distraction and trivia. Important affairs are mixed up with footballers wives and what celebrities wear. It’s hardly surprising we know nothing about anything. The policy is deliberate. Poeple who know and understand very little cannot threaten the status quo. There is too much supposition and too little information. ‘What if…’ is a particularly annoying opening line.
Four years ago I grew frustrated with corporate media. The leading stories were Boris Johnson’s tea party, and Djokovic getting deported from Australia. 100,000 Russians were massed on the borders of Ukraine and no one seemed to think they would invade. I did, and I started to write about it. Initially no one listened. I have continued to do that for four years. In response, I get cyber attacked weekly and trolled daily. I’m hitting the target.
During the past 17 months I have posted 536 articles 470 of which were for all subscribers and the remainder for paid subscribers only. An average of 50% of those subscribers read every post. Most were on my pet subjects: Ukraine. Putin, Trump, and Veterans’ affairs, but they were interspersed with short stories, poetry, and current affairs in other important parts of the world like Gaza, Venezuela and Sudan and recently the US/Israel attacks on Iran.
I’m honoured that you read my work and take time to disagree or correct my errors. If everyone agreed with me there would be no point in posting and my audience would be very limited. I welcome polite challenges and questions, and I hope you all continue to engage with my work.
I write to fight! It is no longer possible for me to carry a machine gun, so I write.
The process is cathartic, and it makes me examine my own opinions. When I write I hope to make people examine their opinions too. Many of us simply repeat what others say without investigating the veracity of what they are telling us. When someone starts a sentence with ‘I heard’ it should be a warning.
I will continue writing and fighting. I will say it as I see it. I will challenge abuse of power and praise good acts, whoever makes them. Yes, I am biased. I will confront anyone who inflicts pain and suffering on humanity and I will call them out. I have been attacked by troll farms in Tennessee and Moscow, and I have received hundreds of cyber-attacks on my web pages. Once three years back, they got through and collapsed all my systems for over a month. I’m proud to be considered important enough to hit. I’m not a victim. As I said, ‘I write to fight’ so I expect a battle. For seven years I was considered to be subversive by the UK Home Office for my actions in support of military veterans.
Today is my self-promotion day. I usually stick to saying ‘Please be a paid subscriber’ at the end of my Substack articles. I’m asking the thousands who are free subscribers to think about supporting my efforts. The monthly fee is £7.00 which is £00.23 per day, and I write almost every day, it’s a good deal. There are other options such as one-off optional payments.
For those who want a little more, all my books including my autobiography Fighting Scared, are all available on Amazon in paperback or audio. Warrior Poet: A Soldier’s Songs is also available on Audible. Slava Ukraini! Who Dares Shares an observational diary of the first two years of Russia’s invasion, is available in hardback on Amazon fr (France).
Signed books and special offers can be ordered at www.robinhorsfall.com/shop - I sign and dedicate them to order. They are posted and tracked within two working days.
When I was young, I served my country for twelve years. I’m still serving, but now my fingers must walk the walk,- on my keyboard.
Whatever you choose to do, keep reading and sharing. Knowledge is power.
I will continue to write and fight.
